WABI
CHARRED WOOD CLADDING 焼杉板
James Gray are UK suppliers of Wabi charred wood cladding solutions to the
construction trade and general public.
Wabi is an ancient Japanese woodworking tradition of preserving wood with fire.
Wabi highlights the natural colour and texture of wood, making it more
weather-resistant and durable.
Originating from Japan in the 18th Century, Wabi is a particularly striking method of preserving wood by charging it with fire. The wood is burned until the surface is charred and sealed with a natural preservative. Stimulating the renaissance of this antique Japanese technique, we specialise in wood preservation with fire and enjoy working with clients, who seek original design solutions.
